Repair2ride sponsored two time british cycle speedway champion Andy Angell collects his bespoke ultra lightweight wheels built by repair2ride.

Stans NoTubes Alpine rims, laced to planet x track hubs with dt swiss revolution spokes, weighing 1600g for the pair.

Hopefully these will be his secret weapon that will take him to his third british title and to the world championships in Australia later this year.

Good luck Andy!

Round up of recent repairs

Its been a busy time for repair2ride recently hence the lack of blog posts.
So i decided to do a summary of what I've done to bring you all upto date.

Punctures, punctures and more punctures. It appears to be that time of year folks as I've fitted no end of new tubes to customers bikes. Slime filled tubes are a good option, they don't prevent punctures but if you get one 9 times out of 10 you can just let the solution fill the hole and pump the tube back up, without removing the wheel or tyre. Repair2ride stocks all sizes of slime filled tubes and any schrader (car type valve) innertube can be converted to slime too.

The best preventative to punctures is to fit schwalbe marathon plus tyres which have a thick layer built into the tyre that prevents punctures. These start at £30 each then fitting on top. So not the cheapest option but the best. I have a customer who i fitted these to his bike who hasn't had a puncture in two years, including cycling to work and completing the coast2coast twice. Thats how good they are.

Also had an electric bike with a broken chain which required 2 chains due to the offset nature of the bottom bracket.

Fitted a new bottom bracket and chain to a customers boardman hybrid which he planned to use to complete the coast2coast this weekend just gone.

Have got one bike in the workshop which has had a whole new drivetrain (gears etc) and another one coming in tomorrow for the same treatment.

I am the  company founder and a very keen cyclist who has enjoyed cycling since the first day I sat on my first bike. What I love about cycling is the freedom and chance to go places under your own steam. Plus, it keeps you fit and helps to save money on fuel too!
