Well its great news to hear that Beverley will host the start of the
Tour de Yorkshire 2016. Stage One will see the riders leave Beverley and head for Settle. Otley plays host to the start of Stage Two in which the riders will head towards Doncaster. The final and possibly toughest stage starts in Middlesborough and takes in the glorious North Yorkshire Moors before finishing in the beautiful seaside town of Scarborough. Please check out le tour.yorkshire.com. for more details. The woman's race will also be taking place over the weekend. In other news I will be once again providing my services at the Heart of the Wolds Sportive on the 24th April 2016, held at the Driffield showground. There are three routes available and some stunning Wolds scenery to enjoy, plus plenty of climbs so pop it in the diary and get out there training. The Tour de Yorkshire organisers will be announcing the full route on the 9th December. The men's race will be held between Friday 29th April and Sunday 1st May, put the dates in your phone now!
The women's stage, the second year of running, will take place on the Saturday 30th April. The sportive will also be returning and further details on entry and the route will be announced in the coming weeks. Looking at the six towns named as starts or finishes, they are in alpabetical order, Beverley, Doncaster, Middlesborough, Otley, Scarborough and Settle. It will be interesting to see where the routes go this year. We are lucky that Beverley is so close, we have some cracking rides in this area. The Yorkshire Bank Bike libraries are thiving, and since they opened in June this year over 1,500 bikes have been donated for children who previously did not have a bike, and are now able to learn to ride. A brilliant legacy from the tour. |
Craig BoddiceI am the company founder and a very keen cyclist who has enjoyed cycling since the first day I sat on my first bike. What I love about cycling is the freedom and chance to go places under your own steam. Plus, it keeps you fit and helps to save money on fuel too! Archives
