First up was the troublesome task of removing a worn out bottom bracket from a specialized full suspension mountain bike. This done I fitted a new octalink bottom bracket and re-installed the cranks. Fitted new gear cable and adjusted the gears.
Then off to Sutton for a puncture repair before back to the workshop to remove a set of discs brakes from a customers kona mountain bike. He'd supplied a new set of xt disc brakes which needed the hoses shortening and switching over as they were set up european style. With this done it was time to clean up and go in for dinner and a well earned rest.
The day was made considerably easier thanks to the help of my new recruit :)

Today the weather has been mostly great, the odd shower being the exception, not the rule thankfully.
As a result repair2ride has been out servicing, fitting new tyres and innertubes to a variety of bikes from hessle to sutton to melton. First up was a Trek Madone 4.5 Carbon framed road bike which has been serviced and is ready to ride.
Next up was a family with three bikes which needed adjusting and checking before being safe to ride. Also, a new tyre was required as the old one had perished.
This dutch bikes owner had been suffering regular punctures and most recently had suffered a blow out which resulted in her needing a new tyre and innertube. The cause of the punctures was due to an ill fitted rim tape. This has now been sorted and a slime anti-puncture tape was also installed too as the bike is used regularly to commute to work.
Over in Sutton, repair2ride fitted a new innertube and slime anti-puncture tape at another customers house. Again he'd been suffering lots of punctures recently on his ride to work. Then it was over to Melton to pick a mountain bike for a customer who wants to have new hydraulic disc brakes fitting that he'd purchased off the internet. Also, the hydraulic hoses need swapping over as the brakes are set up for european style eg the opposite to the UK. Picture 1: Ladies shopper style bike service and fitted with new brake pads.
Picture 2: Fausto Coppi road bike, serviced and new chain fitted ready to ride. Picture 3: Worn out chain on hybrid bike. Picture 4: New chain and freewheel fitted to hybrid bike as a result of the chain and freewheel both being worn out. Have been all over today, beginning at the BP plant in Saltend and finishing at Elloughton. Fixed all manor of bikes from hybrids to bmx's. |
Craig BoddiceI am the company founder and a very keen cyclist who has enjoyed cycling since the first day I sat on my first bike. What I love about cycling is the freedom and chance to go places under your own steam. Plus, it keeps you fit and helps to save money on fuel too! Archives
