Repair2ride has been away supporting Global Adventure Challenge's charity bike ride from London to Paris. 185 cyclists set off for Paris last week, and after four tough days riding they reached Paris last Saturday afternoon. Many congratulations to all the riders who took part, raising lots of cash for their chosen charity.
Don't forget the family event taking place in the centre of Hull on Sunday 16th August when the Skyride free event comes to the City. The event starts at 11.00 am, and is ideal for families to ride a short circuit round the city streets free of traffic. Check out the webpage http://www.goskyride.com/ There are also plenty of rides for all the family during the summer holidays organised by the Skyride team.
Please look out for the new look Repair2ride van, not red but a much bigger and better white van with the famous red and black repair2ride logo on the side.
Give me a wave when I pass by. Hope you're enjoying this mini heat wave and please remember to keep well hydrated when out riding in the sun. I am looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow morning at the Humber bridge sportive.500 Riders are booked in to attempt the two routes.
The 2 routes of 21 and 61 miles, will take in the quiet roads of North Lincs, offering spectacular views across to Lincoln Cathedral and over the Humber estuary. Both rides have feed stations! The longer route will head towards the market town of Caistor, before tracking down to the river Humber, and then return to cross the Humber Bridge via Goxhill and Barton. Ride organisers are Ian Nicholls and Andy Cawley, the event is raising money for the echoes foundation. I will be there along with Minster cycles to check your bike over and help where needed on the route. Look forward to hopefully a dry morning, and enjoyable ride for all concerned. http://www.humberbridgesportive.co.uk/docs/hbs2015_rider_info. www.echoesfoundation.org.uk June is here and our first maintenance class is scheduled for Saturday 27th June, space limited.

Press release A new tour company is offering all inclusive road cycling tours without the hassle or steep price tag. Simple Cycle Tours take your bags at the start of the tour, put them in a support van and meet you at the end. Not only that, they handle all the accommodation and will be nearby should something go wrong and you need a helping hand. The supported cycle tour is of course not unique, there are companies offering luxury tours in the Alps for upwards of £1200/week. However, the offering from Simple Cycle Tours embraces a more sociable and light-hearted atmosphere. By upping the numbers from around a dozen to fifty and providing shared accommodation in Youth Hostels, the price of a long weekend is amazingly kept to under £200. This even includes a high-quality tour jersey provided by Svelte Cycles – an exciting new cycling brand. With a barbecue on the Friday night, the tour gatherings allow plenty of opportunity to meet other riders. The founder, John Wilson says, “For many road cyclists, there are two choices: travel in a loop from your start-point or carry minimal kit and endure odd looks when wearing sweaty lycra in the pub. We’re looking to bring the fun and adventure back into cycling and at the same time make road cycling more accessible”. Simple Cycle Tours have their first tour from August 21st to 23rd, staying in York on the Friday and Whitby on the Saturday. While the organisers do the hard work, riders will be left to enjoy 199 miles of beautiful landscapes through the North York Moors and Yorkshire Wolds at www.simplecycletours .co.uk. Repair2ride is pleased to announce the start of new bicycle maintenance

Beautiful Yorkshire scenery enhanced the wonderful three days of the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire. The crowds came out en force to enjoy the spectacle of seeing top cyclists. Bradley Wiggins enjoyed the applause that greeted him and his new team Wiggins.
Sadly Ben Swift went out of the race on the first stage after a nasty fall and we wish him a speedy recovery. The tour took in the beautiful North Yorkshire moors, by, it was chilly up on the moors! The coastline towns of Whitby, Scarborough and Bridlington sparkled in the sunshine, not forgetting the wonderful Robin Hood's Bay. Beverley looked very colourful, and huge crowds welcomed the riders on the second stage. I took in the Cote de Newbald along with many other keen cyclists who whooped and cheered as the riders rode the climb. So riders, dust down those wheels, get the lycra on and hit the road! Enjoy the wind in your face! |
Craig BoddiceI am the company founder and a very keen cyclist who has enjoyed cycling since the first day I sat on my first bike. What I love about cycling is the freedom and chance to go places under your own steam. Plus, it keeps you fit and helps to save money on fuel too! Archives
